ClassroomKaede’s Reading Challenge

Thursdays will never be the same without this student. I met her 4 months ago, and I thought she was really shy but so happy to know she has a bright personality. She’s 9, but she thinks like she’s 12 or older. As a teacher, I noticed she can easily read English words, and the way she pronounces them is good.

 

To be the best, I told her about doing a “Reading Challenge”. At first, I saw a confused reaction, but then I explained to her that it would be fun. Each month we will read a certain story. We will start by learning the words, practicing pronunciation, and then discussing what the story is about. She’s 9, so choosing an exciting story for her is quite challenging for me. She will also write the stories that she has already finished reading on her “K’s Reading Challenge List.” She’s excited about writing the story title on her list.

 

It is a simple step, but hopefully, she will enjoy this learning journey. We laugh while reading. It’s something I am so grateful for. She’s learning and also having fun. We are down to our 4th story this week. Please wish my student all the best so that she will continue reading more stories. How about you? Do you love reading books?
