Found my first fossil!

Don’t know what it is, but it’s fossilized!

People find all sorts of mammoth tooth(s) and tusks around here. They say that the best time to look is after a storm. And, that’s what we did.

Yesterday there was a hurricane sized arctic storm. Tidal power working its magic along the vast coastline.

It’s weird because you all sorts of stories about what to look for: laying on the beach, sticking out of the cliff, buried in the mud, etc. But, on this occasion, while walking the beach I looked down at what looked like a bone or bush root. I picked it up. It definitely was heavier than a normal piece of wood or bone. At the ends you could see a carbonized structure. And, thanks to all the visits to the museums, we could definitely make the observation that it was a fossil!

Pretty cool!
