I couldn’t sleep good last night. I woke to the sound of the ATVs going out into the vast tundra in the middle of the night. Curious where they are going.

But I looked out the back window and saw the Big Dipper in between the blanketing clouds. The same Big Dipper me and the boys watched every night growing up in Japan. Same stars, but different. It’s right there. Right in my “backyard”. The Big Dipper. Polaris. Alaska.

“Even though we are a thousand miles apart, when I look at the stars you are right there with me.”
